No pension, no dismissal protection, no paid vacation, no access to the health system, we also work when we are sick, because we aren’t allowed to be sick: No work no pay!” No Work No Pay! (2012) is a video made with and for the Migrant Domestic Workers FNV, an organisation of cleaners without contracts, who work in the grey and black zone of the Dutch economy. The shadow puppetry theatre play enabled the domestic workers to perform themselves as anonymous silhouettes and to articulate their demands as the voice-over addressing a specific audience: the politicians deciding upon their labour rights. The video was screened at the Dutch parliament and was part of the campaign 100.000 Families Trust Us (2012), a campaign demanding the regularization of domestic work in the Netherlands and protesting the criminalization of undocumented workers.
